Fr Nigel Gibson is the priest-in-charge of Emmanuel Church – Pokfulam, Hong Kong.   Fr. Fr Nigel joined St. John’s Anglican / Episcopal Cathedral as a chaplain in May 2010 and was installed as priest-in-charge of Emmanuel Church – Pokfulam on 20th June 2010 by The Most Revd Dr Paul Kwong, Primate and Archbishop of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui.

Prior to being ordained, Fr Nigel spent 15-years as a professional broadcast journalist in Australian Radio.  He then studied theology at St. Barnabas’ College and the Adelaide College of Divinity in South Australia and was ordained in 1987 at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Adelaide and served his title at Christ Church, North Adelaide.

In 1990 Fr Nigel moved to the UK.  Much of his ministry was in the Diocese of Lincoln where he served as Rector of St. Mary’s and St. Martin’s, Stamford, Lincolnshire.  Later he served as  Vicar of the Church of the Transfiguration, Kempston, Bedford, in the Diocese of St Albans.

From July 2004, Fr Nigel was Chaplain of All Saints’ Church, Milan and three other Anglican communities in the north of Italy – Cadenabbia (Lake Como), Genova and Varese.  He also taught Religious Education (RE) at the European School, Varese and was Chaplain to the UK contingent of the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps, north of Milan.

Fr Nigel is an accomplished classical pianist and has a life-long passion for classical music and opera. He is a keen cyclist and an enthusiastic supporter of Liverpool and Parma football clubs.
