Our Services at Béthanie Emmanuel Church Pok Fu Lam hold a Holy Communion service each Sunday at 10:15am. For the first Sunday of every month we also hold a 9.00am Communion Service with a quiet reflective theme.

This week
Thursday 4th march at 7:30-9:30 Mid-Week Group LENT COURSE. This year we will be using one of the York Courses entitles, 'WHEN I SURVEY . . Christ's cross and ours. Copies of the booklet for the course are available at $50 each. The CD/audiotape for the course features and introduction by Dr David Hope, former Archbishop of York, and contributions by John Bell, Richard Dannatt, Christina Baxter and Colin Morris. The course will take place as part of the Midweek Group activity Venue: Colleen and Steve Nichol's apartment. All are welcome, whether you can make it to all or only some of the sessions.

Volunteering at St John's Cathedral Bookstore The Bookstore is also looking for volunteers to help out either on a regular or occasional basis. Communion during Influenza Type A (H1N1) It is requested that communicants when receiving the wine at Eucharist should intinct, by partially dipping the wafer (not the fingers) in the chalice, instead of sipping.
Taking Part and Helping on Sundays at Emmanuel Each week it takes a number of people to make our worship services run smoothly. If you feel you can contribute by greeting, reading, offering intercessions, helping with Sunday School or bringing refreshments, please sign up on the rota at the back of the church.
If you feel you can help out with setting up and clearing up after the service and coffee please do sign up on the rota at the back of the church or contact one of the Church wardens or use the the contact form.
If you want to know more about any of the tasks please contact the coordinators. No previous experience is required!

David is available at any time in an emergency. He is available in Pokfulam or at the Cathedral Office anytime on Mondays and Fridays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays he is available in the afternoons.

Appointment of Revd. Nigel Gibson as the new Priest-in-Charge at Emmanuel Church - Pokfulam
The Revd. Nigel SD Gibson has now been officially appointed as Chaplain of St. John's Cathedral and as the new Priest-in-Charge at Emmanuel Church - Pokfulham. Fr. Nigel takes up this new appointment on Sunday 23rd May 2010 - Pentecost Sunday.
Since July 2004, Fr. Nigel has been Chaplain of All Saints' Church, Milan and three other Anglican communities in the north of Italy – Cadenabbia (Lake Como), Genova and Varese. He also teaches RE at the European School, Varese and is Chaplain to the UK contingent of the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps, north of Milan.
After 15-years as a professional broadcast journalist in Australian Radio, Fr. Nigel studied theology at St.Barnabas' College and the Adelaide College of Divinity in South Australia. He was ordained in St.Peter's Cathedral, Adelaide and served his title at Christ Church, North Adelaide.
Following an appointment as Lecturer at the famous St Botolph's Parish Church in Boston (The Stump) in the Diocese of Lincoln in the UK, Fr Nigel served as Rector of St.Mary's and St.Martin's, Stamford, Lincolnshire for nearly 8-years.
Prior to working in Milan, Fr. Nigel was Vicar of the Church of the Transfiguration, Kempston, Bedford, in the Diocese of St Albans in the UK for 4-years.
Fr. Nigel is an accomplished classical pianist and has a passion for opera and classical music. He is also an avid supporter of Liverpool and Parma football teams. His other interests include photography and cycling.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming Fr. Nigel to Emmanuel on Pentecost Sunday 2010.
