The faith of Christ offers no buttons to push for quick service. The new order must wait the Lord’s own time, and that is too much for the person in a hurry. He just gives up and becomes interested in something else.
The wonderful thing about saints is that they were human. They lost their tempers, got angry, scolded God, were egotistical or testy or impatient in their turns, made mistakes and regretted them.
Still they went on doggedly blundering toward heaven.
We all have stumbling blocks; what is most important is turning them into stepping stones.
“It’s not that the Christian faith has been tried and found difficult, but rather it’s been found difficult and left untried.” (G. K. Chesterton)
